My wife comes from a town in South Australia's Riverland called Renmark. It is situated on the Murray River , Australia's longest and largest river. The word Renmark comes from an Aboriginal word and it means "Red Mud".
Lesley and her family made many trips to the bush around Renmark as we still do .
Her love for this country and the red dirt and it's complimentary Blue Bush that is wide spread in Outback Australia, and also the many grasses such as Spinifex and trees including Native Pine and Black Box and River Redgum and Mallee, has rubbed off on me since I have been visiting the area since 1966.
Much of Central Australia has very similar landscape.
So rather than travel overseas our joy is seeing our own country.
We have visited many places some of which have already appeared on this blog and more will do so in the future.
Places we have been include: Broken Hill,Silverton  and the Darling River in NSW; Flinders Ranges South Australia, Nullabor Plain South Australia and Western Australia,Uluru also known as Ayers Rock,Kings Canyon. The Olgas, Alice Springs,Darwin, and greener places like The Grampian Mountains,Tasmania,Kangaroo Island,Wandillagong, Victoria,Bright,Victoria and the Australian Alps and The Ovens valley in that area. Sydney, Melbourne:Echuca on the River Murray is also a favourite spot we will be revisiting soon where there are lots of Historic river Paddle Steamers.Canberra is a frequent destinationThe list goes on but Red Dirt Country is our favourite.Just a few photos for a taste.
