"Listening Earth"-New Venture

"Listening Earth" is my favourite place to listen to and buy the sounds of nature.

Andrew Skeoch and Sara Koschak have now ventured into free online streaming.

This is a wonderful gesture by them in promoting wild life conservation.

I recommend you have a listen and purchase a few recordings to help the cause.

The Singing Garden by C J Dennis

In reading a book on the "Selected Verse of C J Dennis", the famous Australian author of "The Sentimental Bloke" I came across something I had not known and it was highlighted by his biographer,A.H. Chisholm.

A H Chisolm was a prolific Australian writer who also was a keen bird expert.

C J Dennis was a very keen birdwatcher and he wrote a book called "The Singing Garden" which is full of wonderful pen pictures of Australian Birds.

It is not in print anymore but I discovered a wonderful website for birders that has the whole text available to enjoy.
Here is the link below.

If you want to hear some Australian bird song then you can't go past "The Listening Earth" website of Andrew Skeoch and Sara Koschak.

So read the text at Bushpea and listen to the birds on Listening Earth.

Bird Song

Over the years I have loved to not only photograph birds but also record their calls to some extent.
This has usually been on a camcorder.
Sometimes I have just concentrated on sound recording rather than trying to video the subjects as cam corders usually have good recording performances as long as you avoid the noise of the mechanics of the camera.
With Digital Recording now this is not a problem.
I bought some CD's in a shop yesterday by Andrew Skeoch and Sarah Koschak.
Check out their website.
Brilliant work.

Also here is a link to one of my favourite little bird encounters with a young thrush who joined me for  morning coffee in Renmark.
Listen for his beautiful song.
