Ricky Ponting Retires

Ricky Ponting former Australian test Cricket Captain has announced his retirement from test cricket following the 3rd test against South Africa starting tomorrow.
Uncle Harry was right.
In about 1990 I spent a memorable day at the cricket with my wife's Uncle harry.
He was 90 at the time.
We sat in the Edwin Smith Stand watching Australia play the West Indies.
He did not miss a ball and made some astute comments on the game as we went.
He told me how he remembered Kippax rattling the pickets at the Adelaide Oval.
He also told me Ricky Ponting will Captain Australia.
He was right.
What a marvellous player, captain and  champion of the game both on and off the field.
Below is a link to how the ABC news reported this.

Also I have attached some pics from the record breaking partnership between Ricky and Michael Clarke at Adelaide Oval in January this year.
Well done Ricky.

Australia V South Africa Day 5 Gallery

Well the Adelaide test match is over and ended in a tense draw.
Man of the match was South African batsman Faf Du Plessis who followed up his first innings 78 with an unbeaten century today.
He batted all day today and some of yesterday and this was his first test match.
Australia had there chances to win but it wasn't to be.
A memorable test match with some amazing individual performances and also sheer grit from both teams.
I think it was appropriate it was a draw.
Now it's to Perth on Friday for the last of the three test series.
I won't be there.
Here are some more pics from today taken on my Canon 600d.
All pics are copyright Geoff Thompson 2012.
Ps Any Cricketers who want to have their wedding photographed by Geoff Thompson are welcome to email me.
