Ricky Ponting Retires

Ricky Ponting former Australian test Cricket Captain has announced his retirement from test cricket following the 3rd test against South Africa starting tomorrow.
Uncle Harry was right.
In about 1990 I spent a memorable day at the cricket with my wife's Uncle harry.
He was 90 at the time.
We sat in the Edwin Smith Stand watching Australia play the West Indies.
He did not miss a ball and made some astute comments on the game as we went.
He told me how he remembered Kippax rattling the pickets at the Adelaide Oval.
He also told me Ricky Ponting will Captain Australia.
He was right.
What a marvellous player, captain and  champion of the game both on and off the field.
Below is a link to how the ABC news reported this.

Also I have attached some pics from the record breaking partnership between Ricky and Michael Clarke at Adelaide Oval in January this year.
Well done Ricky.

Adelaide Test Match Australia v India day 2,Adelaide Oval

Today I had the privilege of being able to spend a day at the cricket at Adelaide Oval and to see both Michael Clarke and Ricky Pointing score double centuries.
I took lots of pics and I think I captured about 6 wickets on camera.
Clarke gets his double century

A great innings
I haven't gone through and edited and counted photos as yet.
I have posted a few tonight and will post some more by the end of the week.
Australia are in a very commanding position having scored more than 600 and India 2 out at stumps.

India v Australia Test Match Adelaide 26/1/08

Today in Melbourne the famous Boxing day test match started between India and Australia.
It is at an interesting stage at stumps with things much in the balance. Australia will have to score well tomorrow morning with the tail-enders to stay in the game in my opinion.Newcomer Ed Cowan did very well with 68 runs. I hope to get to the Adelaide test match when they play here soon. I was at the Test in Adelaide the last time India played in Australia.
These Grandstands have now been replaced

My favourite spot-the Fig Trees at Adelaide  Oval

It's Cricket Season in Australia

Australia are currently doing batttle with New Zealand in a Test Match in Brisbane. As I write Ricky Ponting is not far off of a test century(100 runs). I have found a few photos of him from a past test match against India  at Adelaide Oval for viewing. Stop Press:Now he has just been given out LBW and they are asking for a video review. He is on 78 runs. He is on his way. That could be the turning point in the test match.Thay stilll havve not passed New Zealand's 1st innings total and they have a long "tail" The tail is the bottom 5 batman who are mostly bowlers and not known for their batting.
Well since I started this peace the rest is history a new young fast bowler blitzed the Kiwis after the "tail" batted really well.
