Yellow Throated Miner |
Take off |
On a trip to Central Australia in July 2009 we had many encounters with birds.
One of the most remarkable was on our second day of travelling when we stopped at a roadhouse for morning tea.
A Yellow Throated Miner spotted us and was interested in our food.
My wife has a gift like her late father of talking to birds and soon had coaxed this bird to eat out of her hand within a few minutes of our stopping.
The bird had a nest in a large tree behind the roadhouse and was taking food back to young ones.
